you drive really fast now -
you always used to take your time
and hold my hand, but now you
speed down these black roads,
these dark back roads, faster than
the speeding bullet you lodged in my soul.
you drive really fast and you don't look at me -
so unlike the way it used to be
when you said you'd never be able
to get enough-
you had enough, and maybe you're
trying to fly away from me, but i'm
still in the car beside you.
you drive really fast and i think we might crash -
think this car is going to fly
right into a tree and be crushed to bits,
with us inside, and
that would be okay because
you already crumpled my heart
and shattered love's hope much worse than
you could ever damage this piece of metal...
and i don't know who is beside me
because the You i know always takes his time,
so if we die, i won't mind -
just myself and a stranger
and the silence of departure.
